Report

The tenth edition of a flat course started in full sunshine, 22C, and in the last third the approximately 100 runners field encountered drizzle and wind. The organisers announced at the starting line that it might be the last edition of the marathon due to financial constraints, which were obvious by the fact that for the first time the course consisted of 4 laps, instead of two, through the streets of Timisoara. The finish line was as usual in Revolution Square, the birthplace of the December 1989 Romanian revolution. The Halfmarathon will continue though, on the 10th of October 2010. On another note, it was a good week for the locals, as the Nobel Prize was won by writer Herta Muller, the German-Romanian born in Nitchidorf, on the outskirts of Timisoara.
