On a crisp chilly November day the 33rd running of the New York City Marathon took place through the five boroughs of New York.


From the humble origins of 1970 when 127 runners started the inaugural race, but only 55 finished, the race has blossomed and attracts runners from all continents around the globe who descend like wasps on the
