Baldwinsville Turkey Day 10k: 23 November 2006
Clear, sunny and cool with temperature of about 2 degrees Celsius at race time
The course is USATF certified for both the 5k and 10k race. There is also a fun run.
The race, in Josh\'s hometown of Baldwinsville in Upstate NY, is well attended as a local holiday tradition. This was the 38th staging of the event. There were some very fast times from experienced club runners but most participants took it as an easy jog before enjoying a nice Thanksgiving meal with family and watching American Football on the TV.
The weather was perfect; clear, sunny and cool with temperature of about 2 degrees Celsius at race time. In past years, the temp has been well below freezing with snow and ice on the roads making fast times difficult. No weather problems this year. The race is well marshalled, the local route largely closed to traffic and equipped with 2 water stops. Only problem is a distinct lack of distance markers!!!
If anyone happens to be in Baldwinsville next year at Thanksgiving (about 4.5 hrs Northwest of New York City) we highly recommend these races!!
