Report
Race report: A 5 mile open cross country race around Lloyd Park and
Addington Hills in Croydon, this is a popular warm-up to the cross country
season. Starting in undulating parkland, the course then follows a tarmac
track to the wooded foothills of Addington Hills. From here the route
covers some steep and tricky gravel escarpments, going predominantly uphill
to the eponymous switchback, from where the going gets a little easier.
Dubbed by Runners World as a "demanding, exhilarating and rewarding race",
this is indeed excellent preparation for the rigours of the cross-country
season.
