Report
This was my 8th marathon and the first time I\'ve run one in America. I\'ve run small (Robin Hood) and large (London) marathons in Europe and Philadelphia fits well between the two. It\'s big enough to generate excitement but small enough not to be overwhelming. While Philly could be described as a \'no frills\' marathon, I found it to be a perfect marathon experience offering near perfect running conditions, endless sunshine and clear blue skies.
Course:
The start was at 8.00am, smooth, and never felt crowded. I really enjoyed the course which could be described as rolling, a few testing hills especially at mile nine and during the closing miles!!! Nice variety of scenery, from the historic areas, quaint neighbourhoods, and the beautiful Schuylkill River to the Museum of Art whose steps were made famous by Sly Stallone in the movie
