Our men's Div 4 T&F team started the season with a great result
Saturday, almost pulling off an incredible win, coming 2nd of the 6
teams in action, just 1/2 a point behind the winning team Huntingdon.
We ended up with a good turnout, and our result disgusted div 3
captain Charles, who remarked that Div 4 aren't supposed to be good!
Thanks to Kieren Geaney, Roger Coyle, Timur Shakirov, Rost Braharhyk,
Darren Over, David Simpson and Lars Olsen, who all made their SML debuts
for us on Saturday. Darren, Timur & Rost had done the handicap in the
morning, and were given plenty of events to make sure they were properly
worn out by the end! As was Roger who was competing despite suffering a
cold. Lars and David came along to help run the meeting, so special
thanks to them for also competing for us. Myself, Tony McGahan,
Abdifatah Dhuhulow and David Lipscomb were the 'old timers' making up
the rest of the team.
With so many new T&F athletes, PB's were too numerous to
mention, and there were so many great performances it's impossible to
single anyone out.
Our next match is on 7th June, hope to see another bunch of new
faces out then. We especially need the services of anyone who has a bit
of spring in their step, the 110m Hurdles is the only event we couldn't
field a full complement of 2 in. Most people find they can do it fine
once they have a go - and at Div 4 level, if you finish, you probably
win! Anyone seeing my paltry Triple jump effort would also understand
why someone with a little bit of spring would be handy. But of course -
ALL WELCOME!
Lastly a massive thanks to Jo and her team of helpers who did a
great job of hosting Saturday's event. They are absolute stars, and we
owe them a massive debt. Well done.
