Lanzarote trip - packing list

The following guide is a list of what to bring. In our opinion, the items marked with * are necessary if you want to take part in that activity, items marked ± are recommended but optional.

General

  • Helmets Art

* Passport

* Travel insurance documents/details. Ensure insurance covers the activities you are planning to do. Make sure your insurance covers legal fees and repatriation costs.

* Credit/ cash cards
* Flight tickets
* High factor sunscreen (waterproof preferable)
* Sunglasses
* Hat
* Long-sleeved top
± Energy gels, bars, powders
* Drinks bottle(s) / hydration systems
* Windproof top or jacket
± Highlighter pen – useful to plan in advance your activities for the week
± First aid kit
± Camera
* Serpie kit (for races)
± Heart rate monitor
± Small bag for groceries, carrying kit, day trips etc (3 euros at supermarket)
± Clothes pegs
± Clothes detergents (only whole boxes for sale in La Santa)
± A valid EHIC/GHIC card. Don’t assume you will be provided with free medical help
± Your own "Fruit and Fibre" as they probably don’t sell it in the supermarket, or if they do, you will pay more than in a London supermarket.

 

 

Running

* Running shoes
* Warm-weather running gear, ie shorts, vest tops
± Running Belt

± Track shoes
± Off road shoes
± Stopwatch/ watch with timer 

Swimming

* Swimsuit(s)
* Goggles
± Swim hat
± Wetsuit – if you want to take part in open water swims
± Quick drying towel
± Fins, paddles, kickboard, pull buoy – if you use them. These can be borrowed from Sports Booking but only one item at a time.

Cycling

* Bicycle – either bring your own or hire one there

* Helmet
* Gloves
* Spare inner tube(s) + tyre levers
* Pump
* Glasses/ sunglasses
* Puncture repair kit
* Cycling shorts
* Bike box – if bringing your own bike. Check for damage before leaving the airport.
* Cycling shoes
* Fluid – water, juice, energy drink – sufficient for long rides.
* Food – energy bars, malt loaf, dried fruit etc.
* Cash – for café stops and semi-emergencies.
± Allen keys/ Multi-tool

± Removable arm warmers
± Aero bars
± Mobile phone
± Maps of Lanzarote if you have them (pick up Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park at the Tourist Information at the airport)
± Plastic cover for maps (it can rain in Lanza!)
± Download online maps from the internet before travelling, especially the Ironman Cycle and Marathon route
