Track and Field Awards
These trophies are awarded to athletes who are making the greatest contribution to the team. All areas are considered and activities outside of actual event performance which assist the team are given more weight than actual performance. Such activities may include making themselves available for all meetings; filling-in in non-preferred events; taking on difficult events; providing coaching to fellow team members; and assisting the team captain or manager. The team captain decides the recipients of the awards at the end of each season. A perpetual trophy is retained by the club and an individual trophy is awarded and retained by the athlete.
To honour athletes who have provided great service to the teams involved, in most cases over many years, and whose activities have been in the spirit in which these awards are intended, these trophies are (mostly) named after them.
