Affiliations to our Governing Bodies
England Athletics (EA) is the governing body for athletics in England. Clubs must be affiliated if they want to compete in regional or national running, cross-country or track & field competition. Affiliation also provides insurance for us to hold our own races. We are affiliated for competition in road running, track & field, race walking, fell running and cross country. Our club reference number is 2658973.
Individual EA registration
Members wishing to compete in any competitions held uner UK Athletics rules must be registered with England Athletics and purchase a competition license from England Athletics in addition to their annual club membership fee. You can do this via Serpiebase.
Note: payments for licenses are to England Athletics, not Serpentine. Whilst Serpentine collects this fee, we just pass the payment (and some personal data) to England Athletics to complete the registration. Each registered member should receive an England Athletics membership card and license number. Once you have a license it is your responsibility to keep your data up to date in the EA system (as well as Serpiebase). In particualr, this means updating your postal address if you move home. If you think this is confusing please complain to England Athletics at the address below. Similarly, if you have paid but not received a card, please contact EA, not Serpentine.

Triathlon England governs triathlon in England as part of the British Triathlon Federation, responsible for governing triathlon across the UK. It also looks after duathlon and aquathlon. Serpentine are within the Triathlon London Region. Club affiliation provides insurance for us to hold our own races and gives members reduced rates for individual British Triathlon home nation membership.
Individual British Triathlon home nation membership
Serpentine members must still become individual British Triathlon home nation members to avoid paying for a day license at each race. Join your home nation here – just quote your club name as "Serpentine".
British Cycling are the national governing body for cyclesport. Club affiliation provides us with public liability insurance of up to £10million for club activities, introductory membership discounts for members and a range of other benefits. If you have a British Cycling license (gold, silver or bronze) you can now select Serpentine RC as your club and this will be printed on your new license when it arrives. Our cycling kit has also been registered so you can race in that too.
Cycling Time Trials
CTT is the governing body for cycling time trials in the UK. In order to compete in time trials, competitors must be a member of an affiliated club.
Serpentine is affiliated to CTT in the London West (H) region, so all you need to do is enter your chosen race.
South of England Athletics Association
The SEAA is the former governing body for athletics in the south of England. It is still responsible for organising a number of competitions and leagues.
