Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k

In the late 1980s a 5km handicap race was first organised in Hyde Park by the London Road Runners Club and, following the demise of that club, the event was revived as a straight race by the Serpentine Running Club on the last Friday of the last three months of 1992. After a short gap, the race became firmly established in April 1993 and in April 2001 the race celebrated the 100th staging of the race. Runner's World magazine sponsored the event from July 2000 to June 2004, then it was sponsored by Etonic/InSport from then until June 2006.

The Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k is open to everyone. It is run on the last Friday of each month (see our race planner for dates).

As well as individual races, we maintain an annual league and since 2004 there has been an annual trophy: the winner is the runner with the best six age-graded performances over the year.

You can find out more about the Serpentine Last Friday of the Month 5k, including a map of where to meet and a map of the course, in the Racing section.
