Experience and Achievements

Lan started running in school then concentrated on team sports – hockey and volleyball – until taking up running again in the 1990s, earning medals at the World Corporate Games and other events.  5km, 10km and half marathon are her preferred distances.

Lan started triathlon in 2011 and has since represented the Irish team annually at ITU/ETU European and World Triathlon, Aquathlon and Duathlon Championships, earning medals at multiple European and World Championships and a number of top 5 finishes. She has been Irish National sprint triathlon champion.  She captained the Irish team at the World Duathlon Championships in 2016.  Lan has raced every triathlon distance from super-sprint to Half Ironman, with many podium finishes locally and internationally.  Her Ironman experience is in the swim (relay).  In 2016 she won the London Triathlon super-sprint triathlon outright.  But she has never run a marathon. 

Interests and Activities

Lan started coaching in 2016 with the ambition to share her enjoyment and experience of multi-sport.  In particular, Lan is interested in motivation, mentoring and race planning, aiming to get the best performance on the day – and enjoying the experience.

Involvement with Serpentine

Lan joined Serpentine in 2010.  She runs and races with the club and marshals various Serpentine races through the year.   2016/17 is Lan’s first season as a triathlon coach.  She will be coaching all disciplines with the squad, and will work on race planning and mentoring with individuals.
