Provisional National Standard Cycling Instructor - Promoting Safe and confident road cycling. This is not sport specific, however as its aim is to create road savvy cyclists; it is a great foundation for progressing to group riding.

Experience and achievements

Has been Cycling for 30 years. Riding to and from university was his first experience of riding on London roads. As word "hit the street" he was getting requests from friends and family to teach them road riding and route planning. He recently formalised this experience with CTC instructor training course and can deliver courses for all levels for cycling.

Recently completed the following events for fun: White horse Challenge 150km, London to Brighton, London to Oxford, Guildford Cycle Challenge, London Triathlon, Medoc Marathon, London Marathon, Addidas ½ Marathon, Fleet ½ Marathon, Thames Turbo, Bupa 10000, Nike 10k's, Alcatraz Sharkfest, Steelman.

Interests and activities

Never much of an athlete in his younger years he got involved with sport after doing a 10k in 2002 for a dare. At that time he was unfit and 16.5 stone. Feeling a high like no other after crossing the finishing line he was hooked. Did it again a few times before signing up for the London Sprint Triathlon in 2005 as the next challenge.

In 2007 he decided to make sport a permanent fixture in his life and joined Serpentine to find running and tri buddies. His philosophy is to keep fit and have fun on the way.

Involvement with the Serpentine

One of the great things about the serpentine club is that you can organise your own groups. As a relaxed athlete he sent emails to contact members who wanted to do "calm" training sessions! As a consequence was leading some Sunday rides and the occasional run on Wednesdays. He can offer 1-1 cycle training for all serpentine members who want to cycle more confidently and safely on London roads. This is not exclusively for tri-athletes and the format is tailored to your own goals be it getting on a bike for the first time or confident riding round Hyde Park Corner!
