Hill Running Training Session - The Sequel

Where:

Hampstead Heath/Parliament Hill

When:

Saturday 19th December during the usual Hampstead Hill training session.

Meet 9:45am at the Parliament Hill athletics track changing rooms.

There is no cross country race planned for this day so it will be the only opportunity to get muddy before the Christmas party.

Details:

This is an informal training session aimed at all abilities for those interested in improving their hill running. It will follow a similar programme to the session run at Box Hill in September.

The training session will be taken by Glenn Hughes (3 x New Zealand mountain running champion, 3rd 2014 British mountain running champs, and 2015 Southern Counties Fell Running Champion).

The session will last for approximately 90min and include the following:

  • A brief introduction to hill running.
  • Group warm up run for 15min looping back to the athletics track to drop off gear.
  • Technique based hill training session on the lower slopes of Hampstead Heath for approximately 30min.
  • Circuit training session for approximately 30min comprising continuous running assents/descents on Hampstead heath putting into practice the hill running techniques.
  • Cool down 15min run and stretching.

Lockers/showers cost £3.50.

Road running or trail running footwear is recommended as opposed to spiked XC shoes.

Post training:

For those wanting to stay around after the session, we will find a tea house nearby to Hampstead Heath to recover at afterwards.

Note that this is not a formal coached session and athletes take part at their own risk.
