Here is a summary of social trail runs for the next couple of months. These are all in the countryside a short distance outside London and are easily accessible by train. As usual I'll send out more details and train times the week before each run. No advance sign up is needed - just turn up on the day.

BERKHAMSTED TRAIL ON SAT 12 DECEMBER (Santa hat optional!)

A longer version of our "usual" Berkhamsted route - 26 miles through Chiltern countryside to the north and east of Berkhamsted. We pass through the upper valley of the Gade, where the clear waters of the chalk stream are still unsullied by Hemel Hempstead, and on to the viewpoint of Ivinghoe Beacon. The wearing of a Santa hat on this run is highly encouraged, but by no means a necessity!

REQUEST FOR HELP - WINTER TANNERS ON SUN 10 JAN

In the past two years Serpies have volunteered on a checkpoint on this excellent walking and running trail event, organised by the LDWA in Surrey. Would anyone be willing to help out this time round? Please drop me an email on mailto:trail@serpentine.org.uk

WOBURN WANDER ON SUN 17 JAN

This was a popular route last time we did it, so worth another visit. A 19 mile circular from Leighton Buzzard, taking in the grounds of Woburn Abbey (but not the bit with the lions).

AND MORE...

Some other stuff to look forward to. In the new year, James will be resuming his series of social runs following the course of the Green Belt Relay. And in the run up to spring marathon season, I'll be organising two or three visits to the Tring Hills - where you can either just do a 9 mile basic route as a social run, or add some optional out-and-back hill reps if you want a bit more of a "session". The first Tring Hills provisionally on Sat 30 Jan, to be confirmed.
