SEAA London Cross Country Championships

Another weekend, another cross country success: The Serpentine Men's team put in a strong performance to land silver behind winners Hillingdon AC and ahead of third-placed Hercules Wimbledon AC. The scoring runners were Andy Greenleaf (5th), Nick Torry (7th), Chris Wright (9th) and Jonathan Poole (20th). The Women's team meanwhile finished the race in a strong 7th position, with a scoring team of Tash Sheele (11th), Sarah Pemberton (26th), Lavinia Singer (52nd) and Tamsin Simmonds (59th). In all, 51 Serpie men and 24 Serpettes finished the race. And judging by the smiling faces, they enjoyed it too.

VeloPark Windrush Tri Falling Leaves Duathlon

Serpies were in dominant form at this somewhat poetically named event. Milan Misak won gold in 42:36, with Stephen Palmer completing the podium in 3rd place in 43:48. Natalia Ubysz smashed her first duathlon in 55:18, coming 3rd in her age category. Rob Whitmarsh and Adam Drummond rounded off a great Serpie team performance in 26th and 31st place respectively.

Triathlon Ireland Awards Night

Many congratulations to Lan (Elizabeth) O'Connor who was awarded Irish Age Group Athlete 2017 at the Triathlon Ireland Awards Night. Some of her impressive performances in 2017 include a 5th place at the ITU Duathlon World Championships in August and a 9th place at the ETU Sprint Triathlon European Championships in June. We wish Lan all the best for the coming race season.

Valencia Marathon

The race once again proved popular among Serpies. Three runners finished inside 3 hours, they were Jeremy Agnew in 2:51:30, Ben Parks in 2:56:12 and Andy Waterman in 2:57:55.

St Neots Half Marathon

Four Serpies decided to travel to Cambridgeshire for this autumn favourite and all four finished inside 95 minutes: Harry Boscawen in a new PB of 80:17 (21st), Martin Carmack in 82:14 (35th), Jamie Giles in 89:52 (narrowly missing out on a PB) and Victoria Carter (2nd claim) in 94:24.

Kobe Marathon

The intrepid Frances Ngu finished the race in cold temperatures in just under 5 hours 20 minutes, leaving enough in the tank to take on the Osaka Marathon in a week's time. Good work, recover well!

Parkrun

Lots of great performances this weekend! Simon Craddock was 4th at Dulwich in 16:40, Milan Misak 7th at Fulham Palace in 17:51 (does he ever rest?), Peter Clarke 3rd at Gladstone in 18:48, Nick Towell 9th at Chelmsford Central in 18:57 and Kemuel Dean Solomon 2nd at Barking in 19:16. Meanwhile, it was a family affair for Andy Taylor (2nd claim) and Sam Ludlow Taylor at Linford Wood parkrun, with Andy 1st man in 17:51 and Sam 4th overall and 1st lady in 18:39. Lauren Roe was 2nd female and 11th overall at Belton House parkrun and Victoria Basquill 1st female and 10th overall at Greenwich parkrun in 20:26.

For other great Serpie performances, please check the full consolidated Serpentine results. If your name is missing, please update your parkrun profile with Serpentine RC as your club. Well done all!

Get involved!

Would you like to see your or a fellow club member's achievement featured in the next round-up? If so, it'd be great to hear from you. Simply drop me an email with a few lines about the event and, if you have them, photos or videos (please ask for permission if someone else took the photo or video!). I will do my best to include reports received by end of Monday in the weekly round-up that I usually publish on the club website (news section), plus the Serpentine Facebook page and Twitter, on Tuesdays.

Have a good week,
