Those running the London marathon from the championship start were contesting the English and Welsh Championships (team and individual). It's what the championship start is all about - it's not just a start for the faster athletes, and is why you have to be a member of a British club to get an entry!

Richard has family connections with Wales and is registered as a Welsh athlete so was eligible to race for the Welsh title. Several of Wales' best marathon runners were in with a chance but Richard pulled ahead to take the win. Read more on the Welsh Athletics website.

The team results haven't been published yet (it always takes ages for some reason) but we think Serpentine men have won silver and Serpentine women may be fourth, just missing out on a medal. However team results depend on athlete registrations with EA and UKA being correct, and club colours being worn by all team members so we may be surprised.
