ATW Metropolitan Cross Country League - final standings

Serpentine men's and women's teams both finish second overall in the league after the final races on Saturday. Nick Torry won the overall individual trophy and prize money.

After five league meetings the Metropolitan League is over for another season. Congratulations to Highgate Harriers who won both the men's and women's division one titles and the Howard Williams Trophy for overall league winners. Our teams came a fairly close second.

The rain stayed away at Wormwood Scrubs but with high winds and a waterlogged, heavy course (re-routed in places to avoid flooding) the racing was tough. Sarah Pemberton was first Serpie woman over the line in the women's race and Nick Torry won the men's race in a sprint finish to make sure of his individual league title.

Our men's B team came second in division two and will be promoted next season.

In the veterans league, both our A teams came second in their division ones. Our men's C team won division three and will be promoted next season, and our women's C team came second in division two and will also be promoted next season.

Serpie results: women and men.

Thank you to Bev Thomas, Sally Hodge and Josie Wildridge for helping out with registration and results recording, and to the numerous Serpies marshalling around the course.
