Serpie Vets Womens Team Track & Field Final

Sunday 5th September 2010 - Julie Rose Stadium from 10.30am

As Ian Hodge has recently pointed out, Serpie Vets Womens Team made the Track & Field final this year after failing to do so last year. Unfortunately, many of our top scorers are unavailable on finals day. The standard of competition is high so we are looking for some tough cookies who like a challenge in the W35, W50 and W60 categories (more mature athletes are welcome to compete in less mature age groups. Also, if you are 49 you are a W35.). If you compete, you score. Non scoring is not possible at this competition.

Events (W60's have a slightly reduced timetable)

100m
200m
400m
800m
1500m

4x400m relay

Pole Vault (I don't think we'll bother with this one...)

The final is being held at The Julie Rose Stadium, Kennington Road, Willesborough, ASHFORD,TN24 9QP. Bev Thomas is looking into possibly hiring a minibus or a few people may offer seats in their cars. Train details are below (2 of us so far are going for this option). Travel costs will be met by the club post event - keep receipts. The first direct train from St Pancras station is at 08:42; arriving Ashford International at 09:20. The train calls at Stratford International (08:48) and Ebbsfleet International only. I have listed later train times below:

Depart STP 09:40 - Arrive Ashford International 10:18
Depart STP 10:12 - Arrive Ashford International 10:50
Depart STP 10:42 - Arrive Ashford International 11:20
(Then departures at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour.)

There are return trains to London departing Ashford International station at 13 and 43 minutes past the hour.

An off-peak day return fare is £26.70. With an Annual Gold Card or Senior Railcard, this drops to £17.65.

Please note that due to Olympic Village building work, there is currently no direct passenger access to Stratford International station. Rather a shuttle bus operates from Stratford main station (close to platform 11) to Stratford International station.

If anyone fancies coming out to play, you'd be very welcome. Please reply off group to Sarah Knox (saybirdgonx@hotmail.com) or Bev Thomas (bevt@serpentine.org.uk) stating your name, age group and preferred events.

Thanks,

Sarah
