Trophies and Life Membership

Saturday's Christmas Party was, once again, lots of fun and a huge success - thanks to Josie and her helpers for making it happen. As part of the evening we announced the recipient of the John Stonham Farewell Cup, presented the David Simpson Memorial Trophy and awarded the 26th Life Membership of the club.

The John Stonham Farewell Cup for 2015 has been voted by the Committee to be awarded to Poppy Lenton. This is in recognition of her impressive finish at the Outlaw Ironman despite significant injury and many setbacks with her running. She showed incredible dedication through aqua-jogging and has continued to swim regularly. She has also gone on to inspire and help others through Triathlon coaching.

The David Simpson Memorial Trophy was presented to Glenn Hughes for his acheivement in hill and off road running. Glenn has had an impressive start to the cross country season, placing well in the Met League and one of the team that won Bronze at the London Championships. He was also the Southern Fell running champion after a triumphant set of races in the Isle of Wight. Glenn continues to give back to the club through leading hill sessions - at Boxhill and on Hampstead Heath - sharing his knowledge and experience as a top runner.

It was with great pleasure that the Committee decided this year to award Sally Hodge Life Membership. Sally has been a member of Serpentine since 2001 and has served on the committee covering the communications remit since 2012. Sid Wills presented the Life Membership certificate and highlighted Sally's volunteering over the years - everything from track and field officiating to driving minibuses around Wales! He also expressed the clubs gratituted for her significant previous work on Serpentimes and her on-going work on the club's communications, which is one of the most demanding committee roles.

Congratulations Sally, Glenn and Poppy!
