Club 1k championship decided

Helen Gray (2:56), Ahmed Mohamed (2:34) and Andrew Reeves (93.3%) are the 2016 female, male and age-graded mile champions after some great racing on the infamous downhill 1k course in Hyde Park on Saturday morning.

Picture from Club 1k championship decided

Just short of 50 Serpies ran in the club championship 1k in a warm and sunny Hyde Park in four seeded races. Helen Gray made it three wins out of three Grand Prix races and was well out in front from the gun, breaking the club record which had stood since 2001. We had our third new winner in the men's race, with Ahmed Mohamed crossing the line first in a very close race, which had six men finishing within 10 seconds of each other.

Race results

Thanks very much to all the Serpies who helped, without whom the races couldn't have happened: Malcolm French, Ian Hodge, George Allan, Thom Martini, David Campbell, Pete Mackintosh, Debbie Clarke, Faysal Abillama, Fernando Campos, Andrew Maynard, Pam Hemstrom, Anne Bennett and Richella Doyle.

Grand prix results

After three races, Helen Gray, Ryan McCrickerd and Andrew Reeves lead the competition.
