Last Start Fitness Met League cross country - Saturday 13 February

The last Start Fitness Met League fixture of the season will be at Alexandra Palace. We need a superb Serpie turnout to secure our best possible result for the season

Course location and Race HQ

Alexandra Park, Alexandra Palace Way, London N22 7AY. The start is close to park entrance by junction of Park Road, Muswell Hill and Alexandra Palace Way.
Note: there are no toilets at the course.

Race HQ: The Pavillion, North Middx Cricket Club, Park Road, London N8 8JJ
There are changing facilities and showers at race HQ.

HQ to course walk time: 1.25km, approx 15 mins

Course description

A mainly flat open course but with one long, steep hill (run more than once by the senior men and women) up to the Palace. It normally gets very muddy, especially on the hill, so spikes are essential if you want to make any progress uphill!

Other information

All entries taken on the day. You do not need to enter in advance.

If you raced at an earlier Met League race this season (except the first one!), please remember to bring your race number with you to wear. If you have lost your number, or haven't raced yet this season, you will need to collect your race number from the Serpentine Team Manager.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of your race.

You must run in a Serpentine top. If you do not yet have your Serpentine top, you can exchange your voucher for one in the kit room on a Wednesday evenings (between 6.15pm and 6.40pm). If you won't be able to get to the kit room before the race, please contact the relevant team captain before 12 noon on 9 February.

Listening devices such as I-Pods are not allowed on safety grounds when competing.

See the league website for more information.

After the race

There will be cash prizes presented to the top 7 men and women over the season after the races. Several Serpies are in the running to possibly finish in the top 7:

  • Sarah Pemberton (currently 7th woman)
  • Glenn Hughes (currently 4th man)
  • Andy Greenleaf (currently 5th man)
  • Jonathan Poole (currently 12th man)
  • Dave Morgan (currently 13th man)
  • Hugh Torry (currently 21st man)

Soar have arranged a post league party at the Victoria Stakes from 6pm to midnight with free drinks for runners (take your race number). However, the pub is bound to very, very busy! The suggestion for a Serpie after race pub is the Mossy Well, 258 Muswell Hill Broadway, which is a Wetherspoons pub and should be serving food. Everyone welcome.
