Life memberships awarded to Andy Robbins and Eddie Brocklesby

I had the pleasure of presenting the 28th and 29th Life Memberships of our club, on behalf of the Committee, at the AGM on 28 September.

Life Membership of Serpentine was awarded to Andy Robbins, for his passionate belief in helping runners achieve their full potential and all his run coaching and advice to members over many years. Andy has been a member of Serpentine for over 11 years, has been a running coach for many of those years and served on the Committee for two years. His contribution to run coaching within the club has been immense. Andy coached at Paddington for several years; he was instrumental in establishing links between Serpentine and the West London Athletics Network; he offered valuable help and advice in establishing the Serpentine juniors section; and has provided thoughtful and practical advice to many Serpentine runners. Andy has also competed for Serpentine in many leagues and events.

Life Membership of Serpentine was awarded to Eddie Brocklesby, for being a true warrior who inspires many in the club and beyond through her triathlon and charitable achievements. Eddie has been a member of Serpentine since 1999. She was the club's welfare office for several years, dealing with issues that arose with a calm and thoughtful manner. Eddie served on the committee for a couple of years and was instrumental in reviewing the way the committee was set up, leading to the current structure. Eddie has also been one of the organisers of the annual club training camp in Lanzarote for many years. Eddie continues to compete, principally at triathlon and to inspire others to believe that they are never too old to be active.

Many thanks to Andy and Eddie for everything they have given to the club.
