Round The Castles Series (16 Nov 2008)

Hillier than you'd think, mainly on forest path and tarmac. Well marked and marshalled - U15 Boys, U17 Women, Seniors and Female Vets all run together over 3 miles, 3 laps increasing in size (different distances for other races from 11yrs up). Trainers adequate for the conditions. Large modern cafe and loos open for the event. Next event at Drum Castle which last time was bright and sunny (as you'd expect in Scotland) and 3°C with ice on the ground adding to the excitement. Round The Castles Series (25 Jan 2009)

Drum Castle course has changed slightly from last year giving an easier finish for the older age groups (3M for women and 5M for men). It is mainly on farm track and woodland path with inclines more significant on the 2 mile lap. Most races are mixed M/F of differing age groups. Bacon butties, stovies, tea, coffee and cold drinks available from a mobile café. Next and final race in the series is at House of Dun near Montrose on Sunday March 15th.

Round The Castles Series (15 Mar 2009)

The 3rd and final race of the series is run on woodland track, tarmac (roadside verge available) and field. Two long slow hills and two short, steep ones. Cheeky little course with a short section not suitable for overtaking – elbows out and take a breather. Lovely scenery and easily accessible from the A90. All age groups from Under 11’s up – some races are mixed male/female and age groups e.g. Sen/Vet women run with U17 women and U15 boys.

Very reasonably priced hot and cold snacks and drinks served from the registration tent - most welcome.

Series prizes given out at the end and medals for all series finishers. Mum’s and Dad’s publically thanked for taking us kids to the races.
