Bungay Black Dog Marathon (03 Apr 2005)

The organisation of this Suffolk/Norfolk event was perfect. Car parking, showers & toilets, marshals & markers - all excellent. And pretty good weather too.
But it certainly was not as flat as I'd been led to believe - there were some pretty bold hills to get up - twice, as it was 2 laps.
This was my 1st marathon & I'm sure I missed the support & heckling of spectators.
It was quiet. It was in the countryside. There was nothing to look at. Dead animals in the roads & lots of country smells. It was all very quiet, & all pretty serious stuff. After 15 miles I hurt. A lot. So I walked, stumbled & jogged my way to the end.
I finished. The highlight was the 99 ice-cream that my partner treated me to at the end. Delicious.
