Kent Coastal Marathon (02 Sep 2007)

A smallish race - around 180 finishers in the marathon, held concurrently with a half marathon. The first half is a toughish route with a fair amount of climbing and descending, but it isn't ridiculous. The second half is almost dead flat, mostly along the concrete coastal path, although this does mean that there is a stiff breeze for a lot of it, and the smell of the seaweed was a bit stomach churning at times. The first half heads out (west) from Margate and then back and the second half then heads out (east) and back to Margate. So this is a good one for spectators! All in all not a PB course (weather and the testing first half), but still a good event with plenty of water stops and gels at three points. Recommended as a low profile "summer" marathon.
