Venice Marathon (26 Oct 2008)
Conditions very warm and sunny for the time of year. Point-to-point course, largely very scenic and completely flat (apart from 14 pretty but unhelpful little bridges over the last mile or so), starting in the nearby town of Stra and ending with a long drag over the “Ponte della Liberta” bridge and the last few miles through the city to finish near St Mark’s Square. Lively atmosphere, with at least a dozen live bands along the way and some pretty good crowd support for the 5,000ish field. Highly recommended!
